From June 6th to June 9th 2023, Assistant Professor Dr. Orawit Thinnukool, the head of Embedded System and Computational Science Lab and a project operator collaborating with Imperial College London, convened a series of meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation within their research network.
This partnership has thrived for over two years, demonstrating their commitment to achieving success in knowledge development and fostering related innovations.During this visit, the research group head engaged in a productive meeting with Dr. Cheng-Yu Tsai, a postdoctoral researcher from the Human Behavior and Safety Lab (HuBS), affiliated with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and serving as a Lecturer at Taipei Medical University-Shuang Ho Hospital.
Also present at the meeting was Professor Arnab Majumdar, Director of The Lloyd's Register Foundation Transport Risk Management Centre, as well as the Deputy Director (External Partnerships) of LISS DTP and the MSc. Transport Cluster Examinations and Admissions Officer from the Center for Transport Studies. The focus of the discussion revolved around strategies for conducting research, gathering research data, and obtaining research ethics approval for projects involving data collection in Thailand. Specifically, the research pertained to the safety of public transportation service providers, including an analysis of sleep-related diseases.Previous interactions and connections had already been established between the research network and Taipei Medical University-Shuang Ho Hospital. These relationships will continue to facilitate the analysis of research data using artificial intelligence, enabling the generation of valuable insights for future advancements and benefits.
Throughout the meetings, a collaborative agreement was reached between the Embedded System and Computational Science Lab at Chiang Mai University's College of Arts, Media, and Technology, and The Lloyd's Register Foundation Transport Risk Management Centre at Imperial College London. This partnership signifies the commitment of both institutions to empirical research and their dedication to advancing cutting-edge research networks. Additionally, they are considering fundraising opportunities from funding agencies in the UK, Taiwan and Thailand. These research network meetings serve as a platform to strengthen cooperation, foster knowledge development, and encourage innovation. The partnerships established during these discussions will facilitate further research in areas such as transportation safety and provide a valuable opportunity for international research groups to collaborate.
