From 23-26 August 2022, Dr. Orawit, the head and AI lead of the Embedded System and Computational Science (ESCS) Lab, visited the MIT Media Lab. During the visit, they had the opportunity to meet with Matt Groh, a computational social scientist at MIT, and Pat Pataranutaporn, who explores the intersection of synthetic virtual humans and synthetic biology at the interface between biological and digital systems. It was a pleasure to have the chance to learn more about the Media Lab and to be introduced to two of its scientists.
As an interdisciplinary research lab, the ESCS Lab aims to advance fundamental research in order to develop innovative real-world applications. During the visit to the Media Lab, the team hoped to gather ideas and inspiration to drive their own research results towards applications that can improve the quality of life for the public in Thailand. The ESCS Lab was also interested in learning about how the Media Lab integrates knowledge from various fields to produce creative works and commercialize them.
The permission to visit the MIT Media Lab was a valuable opportunity for researchers at Chiang Mai University to move forward in their research excellence, enhance their vision for innovation, and drive positive change in Thai society. Chiang Mai University is a research-focused institution that is dedicated to creating new knowledge and advancing science through the development of upstream technologies that can be applied in various fields. In the future, the ESCS Lab hopes to establish a cooperative relationship with the Media Lab to further advance science research and strengthen the long-standing cooperation between Thailand and the United States in various fields.
