Chiang Mai, Thailand – In a significant step toward fostering global academic cooperation, Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand, and the University of Macedonia (UoM), Greece, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote collaboration in education, research, and academic exchange. This partnership marks a milestone in international academic relations between Thailand and Greece, opening doors for faculty, researchers, and students to engage in joint activities that will enhance knowledge-sharing and cultural exchange.
The agreement, signed by Professor Styliano D. Katranidi, President of the University of Macedonia, and Professor Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, M.D., Ph.D., President of Chiang Mai University, outlines several key areas of cooperation, including:
✅ Exchange of faculty members and researchers to promote academic expertise and strengthen research collaboration.
✅ Student exchange programs aimed at enhancing cross-cultural learning experiences.
✅ Sharing of academic resources and research information that benefit both institutions.
✅ Collaborative research projects, joint symposiums, and exchange lectures to encourage interdisciplinary innovation.
✅ Development of joint academic programs to offer students enhanced educational opportunities.
The agreement is set to last for five years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement. Both institutions have appointed representatives to oversee the implementation of exchange programs and ensure the success of this collaboration.

This MOU aligns with Chiang Mai University’s vision of expanding its international network and strengthening research excellence. The collaboration with the University of Macedonia will not only create new academic opportunities but also contribute to the globalization of higher education, allowing students and faculty from both institutions to gain invaluable experiences in an international academic environment.
Asst. Prof. Worawit Janchai, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts, Media, and Technology (CAMT), CMU, and Mrs. Mariette Vaina, Head of the Department of International and Public Relations, UoM, will serve as institutional contacts, ensuring the smooth execution of this MOU.
